"What frisbees are safe to use for my dog? I'm holding a traditional ten inch, plastic frisbee. I always recommend a softer plastic before a harder plastic. Reasoning is for teeth safety, to avoid cracking or any injury to your dog's teeth. They also do have cloth frisbees with a weighted edge. You still can get comparable distance, and you don't have to worry about any injury to your dog's teeth. So as far as safety, a soft plastic or a cloth disk is going to be best to introduce your dog to actually catching a frisbee. As I said, be careful of the harder, cheaper frisbees. I certainly see frisbees out there that don't cost a lot. But a lot of them will have jagged corners and edges that could possibly cut your dog's jaw and skin, causing some teeth pain and or injury. I often times will just touch the frisbee in the store, making sure that the edges are smooth and soft."
