"Okay, we've covered chipping elsewhere in this series but I want you to think about chipping as really your most essential practice, because if you're a beginner and your swing is all arms, and shoulders, and hands and your grip isn't all that comfortable, what you need to do is spend a lot of time chipping. So we're not going to cover the techniques, that's covered elsewhere but what I want you to think about as a new player or a player that's kind of reached a dead end with their game, your technique isn't what it needs to be is chipping. This is the most important drill because if I can't get a chip to have a halfway decent shape that means my swing isn't that good. So that's why a lot of great players that I know, they spend a majority of their practice time, not like most people at the range, hitting the big long ball, they work on this because this works on every part of your swing. It gets your grip more comfortable. It teaches you to turn the body and it teaches you, you know and it allows you to develop good contact. So you need lots and lots of reps. Lee Trevino, one of the greatest players of all time said the way he got his great touch, was he's hit millions of balls. So there's no secret. You don't need a pro, if you're not doing the practice. So if you do this practice a lot whether you use real golf balls or plastic golf balls, just hit a lot of chips. And if you're getting the ball to float up nicely, if you're getting good loft and under spin on it then you can start swinging the bigger clubs, but start with this. It's the most essential thing you can do."
