Summary: The object of bowling is to get the highest score possible, and in some cases, to beat opponents. Learn the object of bowling with tips from a semi-pro bowler in this free video lesson on bowling strikes and spares.
"In this clip, we're going to go over the object of the game. Well, my object, every game, is to bowl a 300, but when you're bowling, you could be bowling against somebody individually in a tournament, so the object is to get a higher score than him. You bowl in a league play, where you have three, four, five different members on your team. The object is for your team to score more points, or more pins than their team. And they have handicaps, so if my average is 200 and yours is 100, well you get a handicap. So you add another 100 pins onto yours and now we're even. So that's what makes bowling such a great sport and makes it even and a lot of fun, because even though I'm a better bowler than you, well, you could still beat me with these because you have that 100 pin handicap. So, the object is to bowl higher than your handicap than I bowl over, if I have a higher handicap. So, that's the object of the game, and throw as many strikes as you can and make every spare, and don't throw a split. You don't want to throw a split. Strike, strike, strike, strike, strike, strike, strike!"
