"Hi, this is Cable for Expert Village. In this clip, we're going to show you how to create a custom palate and choose some colors for your digital inking and painting of drawn animation. So before you start clicking away and using all those colors that your computers can give you, just do some basic thought and character design and decide what kind of color palate you want to use for your character. Now this character, he's an animal, he's a buffalo, so we're going to stick to some very natural earth colors. So, most ink and paint programs will allow you to choose a variety of colors. And what I like to do, is just give a little test and open up the file and just like you are painting a wall, put a little patch on the area that you want to paint. A couple of shades of brown, some for the horn and the tail. See what looks best. The best thing about painting digitally is that it's non-destructive. You can just undo, you can just delete what you don't want. And no harm done. So once you have your colors chosen, you can also save and it depends on what you're working with, but look for options. And when in doubt, use the help menu. When you have chosen the colors that you want to use, you can designate this set of colors to be a custom swatch. And you can name it something that you'll remember and you'll always have that swatch in front of you when you are painting your frames."
