"Here we have a pleated skirt and this is what traditionally pleats make you conjure up in your head are what you think. They're called box pleats. That's the traditional cheerleader type skirt. The Catholic school girl type skirt, they're called box pleats. They're very very very simple, very traditional. Decide where you want your waistline. Decide how long you want it and then you draw boxes, basically. That's what they are. Draw your, decide how wide you want each pleat. I want this pleat to be that wide. So when I'm drawing my second pleat, I come down the same line, but then I make sure I leave a little bit of space in between the two and then make it an even width and then do the same thing. Go down, make sure you leave a little bit of space. Come back up, go down, make sure you leave a little bit of space and then that's going to be on the side so we'll just leave that out. And then below, what makes it box pleats is that the fabric underneath is pleated under. The top part is pleated over. So when you want to depict on your flat drawing, the pleated under and over parts, the under parts, that's why you left these little slits. Dip a little bit lower. Start in the middle of the pleat, dip a little lower and create another line. Go over to the next set, do the same thing. Next set, do the same thing. And then it will show the dimensions."
