"The next thing I'm going to talk to you about is shoulder hits. What you want to do is make sure you have correct posture. Starting with the shoulder, you're going to bring the shoulder forward and back. Forward and back, you want to try to keep it on the level plain. You don't want your shoulder coming up this way. This is something you do not want to do. Bring it forward and back. Should be pretty level right on the shoulder. Forward and back, forward and back. And now to add the hit, what you want to do is, sometimes I tell my students to think that there's a bug or a fly on their shoulder and you want to get it off. Snap, snap, snap, is the shoulder hit. Snap, snap, you want to make sure that's really sharp in the shoulder. Again, almost like you're trying to throw something off your shoulder. Snap, snap, again with the other shoulder. Bring it forward and back, forward and back, try to keep the rest of your body very still. Forward, back, forward and back. Keep it very level here on the shoulder. Again, to add the snap. You want to act like there's something here on your shoulder and from the side, snap, snap, snap. This is a shoulder hit, hit, hit, hit, hit. And the other side, hit, hit, hit. This is also very beautiful accent move, especially in drum."
