"The next thing that I'm going to talk to you about is costume care, storage and handling. When you're traveling with a costume, you want to make sure that the bra, and if you have a belt, stay very flat when you're transporting them. You should keep them in their own container. Any veils or skirts that you have, you should keep them on hangers. Keep inside a garment bag to make sure it does not get damaged. Again this will prevent any wrinkles or any damage or any stains to your skirts, veils, costumes in general. Another thing to do when you get home from a performance is you want to spot check your costume after you take it off. Any bras that you have, you want to check all the beading. If any of the beading needs to be fixed, you want to repair it before you put it away. That way, next time when you go out to perform, you won't have to worry about it. You do want to check the interior. If you have a light colored interior, you want to make sure that there's no stains from your makeup that could be showing next time. Another thing that you want to check out is all your clasps. If your clasps become loose when you’re dancing or performing and you don't want to have an accident the next time. So if any of your hooks or your eyes or any of your hardware on your costume is coming loose, you want to make sure to repair that before you can put it away. You do want to lay your costume out for about 24 hours, so that any of the moisture can air out and you won't cause any mildew or anything to your costumes. Then what you want to do is that you want to place everything flat in a plastic bin like this. I have all my bras, my belts in here. I do have some of my accessories in here. I seal it off and I'm all done. Lock it up and put it away. It's safekeeping. It won't get damaged."
