"One of the hardest processes for any photographer or artist even, is editing down what work to show that, to present to a gallery owner, coffee shop, that you want to show. You can't bring a hundred photographs. You need to really narrow it down to somewhere between twenty and twenty-five photographs. So what I've been taught and what I do a lot of my own work is, let's say I do have an amount of eighty images. What I'll do is, over time, I'll show them. I'll have them in my office or on my desk and I'll have them around. And I'll assign them numbers of importance. Which one I absolutely like, which one works well with other images in the show. Certain images will almost have a dialog with each other. And, as you do this, it actually becomes, I think, really fun to do. And then you can really edit down your work so it's incredibly strong. A lot of times, I'll have colleagues, family, even people that maybe aren't that interested in photography to tell me what images they think are a little stronger than others. And I'll take that all into consideration and when I have a solid body of twenty to twenty-five images, that's when I'll know, okay, I'm going to start to try to show this work."
