"In this clip we'll talk about cognitive behavioral therapy as one of the many treatments for a phobia. As we know some of the other treatments are medication therapy and exposure therapy. Cognitive behavior therapy is different. It involves you working in close proximity with your counselor. Learning different tools and skills to help you cope better with your phobia. You're going to learn things that are going to change the way you see your phobia, maybe you think about positive aspects instead of seeing it as this horrible dreaded thing. You can look at it from a different angle and see it as something that could be helpful, something that may actually be healthy and positive, and isn't as scary as you once thought it was. Your therapist or counselor is really going to help you see that piece by piece and bit by bit you're going to be able to put everything together in a different light. In a way it's kind of like that old saying, you know, stepping in to someone else's shoes. If you can look at your phobia from someone else's point of view it might be less intimidating and less scary. And that's why you really want to work in close proximity with your counselor, because they will help you put all the pieces together. They might even give you a little homework."
