"What I'm getting ready to show you now how to do is this ribbed crochet or a rib knit except for we're not knitting, we're crocheting. But whenever you buy a rib knit tee or a rib knit tank or whatever kind of piece of fabric that you're buying that's a rib knit it looks like this except for a whole lot smaller. So with this yarn we crocheted it in a rib status just like that. You see when I pull it apart that it's really just raised. And when you turn it around it looks exactly the same. It's got these ribs that are raised up and these nice little valleys going in between there. Now what you can see by the fact that I have these different colors is that all this is is you're wrapping the yarn around that column and pulling it forward. You can see that on every color. That the yarn is just wrapping and pulling this piece forward. This is a really simple pattern to do but it adds a whole lot of detail and adds texture to your piece. But also when you're doing a textured piece like this it adds thickness. You can see this is quite fat and squishy. Which is of course great for colder climates and colder weather. But it does use a bit more yarn for something that would be this same width. But it really does look great. You can use a finer yarn if you want to. Of course you can use any type of yarn that you want. The pattern's really easy. And this is going to be a scarf but you can use it in any kind of patchwork or any other design that you want to. So this is really easy and a lot of fun. And I'm going to show you how to do it."
