"What we will do in this segment is show you how to use the spindle gouge for roughing a cylinder, cutting the cove, cutting the depression and cutting a bead. In the roughing cut you want to take the bevel edge, start with the heel of the bevel, bring it until it starts cutting and then run it across. To cut a cove with the skew on the side or the gouge rather, bring it in and as you are bringing it in, twist it and this will give you a smooth cut. To cut a bead we will mark the two sides of the bead and take it from the top, rotate the tool. As you are rotating bring the handle of the skew up. If you find that you are digging in and you find that you are getting a spiral cut you didn't raise your handle up."
