"We'll take a look in this segment how to sharpen the bowl gouge. Sharping the bowl gouge is done similar to the spindle gouge. One slight difference for this particular gouge you need to have the base located seven inches away from the wheel and four inches below the center. Slip the fixture over the end and bring it in and set it at two inches back from the point. Place it in the jig and then what I'll do is cut the side wings first, bring it down quick to the side once. Quickly to the side a second time and then rotating it back and forth. You'll find that when your using this using a tool quite a bit where you like to get a smooth grind all the way down. You have to at this is time you'll sometimes get a almost what looks like a beveled edge but this is acceptable because your starting to wear away some portion of the tool."
