Series Summary

The word "yoga" comes from the Sanskrit root “yuj” meaning "to bind, or join." Yoga is centrally the practice of union, whether you are joining the mind to the body, the human to the divine, or the individual to the infinite. The various styles of yoga that have made it to the West all share a common core: positioning the body into a particular posture while focusing mind and breath leads to physical and spiritual well-being. These arts of positioning the body have been passed on for thousands of years, and encompass one of the oldest cultural traditions known to exist. To practice yoga, then, is also to join with the ancient sages, drawing human history up into yourself and connecting with the past. In this free advanced yoga video series, yoga instructor and business owner Nora Forziati teaches you advanced asanas and twists for your yoga practice. You will learn twisted triangle and bound angles poses, the dolphin pose, and side crow, sages, cow face and boat poses. Nora offers tips on meditating and moving from one asana to another. You will get expert advice on each yoga pose and tips on keeping good form in advanced study.

Video Transcript

"In this series we'll be focusing on advance postures and also some twists. It's very important to remember when we're practicing advance poses that they take time, they take practice. And so we don't want to be too hard on ourselves. We want to try to let go of some of the frustration that might start to come into our minds when we're practicing those more advance poses. We'll be demonstrating some of the poses by using a yoga strap. Because that can help, help you more successful in a more advance pose and help you to get there. Twists are really great for helping the digestive system move more efficiently. Twisting also rings the body out of toxin, negative energy, things of that nature. So we'll start out our series with the Alternate Nostril Breath and we'll move on from there."
