"There are a number of specialty tools out there to do specific types of jobs. This particular tool is used when kind of making boxes. It will allow you to cut down the side of the box and make a very sharp corner at the bottom of the box. In dealing with bowls, you frequently would like to take the center out of the bowl instead of wasting it and throwing it away. There is a group of tools out there that are referred to as hollowing tools or center savers. With these tools you can actually go in, pop the center out of the bowl and then create that into another bowl. We also have another type of item that is used for decorative purposes called the chatter tool. What this does is hangs over the edge of the tool rest and vibrates so as you are working with an item such as a box top or possibly a regular type top, this will put in a fancy design for you that you can color or finish later."
