"So when you're performing with music there's a couple of different spots where you can place your stand. The only thing about performing with music, or course, is that it might look really distracting. So if you absolutely do have to perform with music it's good to be mindful as far as everything around you. So one place you can put your stand is on the left side. The only problem with this is that because you have the piano right here you want to make sure the stand isn't keeping you from seeing your sight lines. So you always want to make sure you're maintaining eye contact with the accompanist at all times. So you want to angle the stand so it's not blocking the accompanist, so you can still see them, but is in a place where you still feel comfortable and you can still see what you're playing. The other negative aspect to putting your stand on this side is that because your violin is already facing this side and your scroll is facing the left side, it's really going to look to your audience as if you're just standing up and just reading your music. So I actually, what I like to do is put the stand on the right side, and actually what you can do is angle it a little bit out this way. And this way it doesn't look like you're just practicing on stage. You're still performing, but it's just a guide."
