Flourishing, this is an entire book written about the art of flourishing. Flourishing is to my mind the icing on the cake. And it's in itself a whole art form, as much as cake decorating is an entire art form unto itself. And they're people in the field of calligraphy who specialize in this type of work. If you want to see some really dramatically, absolutely marvelous flourishing, check out The Universal Penman, look at these guys; these things have to be designed, and then they're executed to look as if they came straight out of the pen. Ornamental Pen Designs and Flourishes, I think this is probably a Dover Publication; anyway this is how elaborate a flourishing can become; see how even and the tone? And here's another book, Ornate Pictorial Calligraphy, pen lettering, gems of flourishing. And there are people who can do these things far more beautifully than I can. However, I do love to flourish. This is a, one of my poster baths, veritas truth, and this is my humble attempt to see if I can make flourishing work with roman capitals. It can work, but I'm not sure this is something I'd give myself an A for. Anyway, let's do a little bit of flourishing. So, you can flourish in different ways. You can flourish because you're using the pen, and you come across a capital, and you want to give that capital a beautiful flourish.
