"One of the most difficult steps in doing acupressure for hip dysplasia is actually finding the hip points, especially on a heavily muscled dog. Again, what you're going to be looking for, acupressure points are always in the hollows. You're going to find the femur, the big bone of the leg, and then you're going to run your fingers on either side of it until you til' you fall into the hollows. Those will be the two key points, one on either side, and we'll show you those specifically a little bit later. But it's going to be critical that you spend a little time getting used to where your animal's leg is. Sometimes what you'll actually have to do is flex that leg. Flex it at the knee, if the dog will let you, and then you'll be easier able to find. As you can see, this is a pretty well muscled dog, and this muscle covers up part of the hip bone, so it makes it harder to find, and you're actually looking for that space around the hip bone. And those are going to be where you're going to be working your points in this particular case. If you can't find them, it's always good to do just general massage in the area. Use fingertips to do that massage, and you'll at least help some."
