Today we're going to talk about trimming your goat's hooves. Now, it's a gnarly and dangerous job, but it's an important one, nonetheless. The winter is really tough on goat's feet, and they tend to crack and split, and the manure and the mud gets rammed up into the hoof. And so, regular maintenance of the goat's hooves is important. These goats have been a little bit neglected, but we'll do our best to bring the hoof back into shape, and then continue through the spring to trim it back. Let me show you how it's done. Okay. The goat is contained in this stance, and so I have full access to the goat's hoof. And what I'm trying to do is create a flat plane which corresponds to this hairline here. So I'm trying to reproduce this hairline along this surface. You can see, there's broken hoof here, we want to trim that off. And we want to take out the tip. Easy, boy. Fight. No, baby. Hang in there. It has to be done, so, may as well do it. This is called the frog, we want to trim that back as well, to a flat surface here, and you want to recreate that flat surface as best we can. You see there's dead tissue, there's mud, there's manure there, but we're trimming back and recreating, as best we can, that flat surface. As I said, it's a difficult job.
