"Okay, so I walk around the ball and I kind of see my lie, see everything that's going on here. I sight out all the obstacles and possible problems up there, whether there's water, trees, what have you. Then I check the wind. So I take a little bit of grass. Now I know which direction the wind is going. So when I now decide, okay, here's my target that I want to aim at, I've taken into account everything for the most part. So now, now that I have my target, now I can draw the line from my target. Now if there's a wind that's blowing from right to left, I'm going to have to aim a little more to the right to counteract that wind. And if a wind's going from left to right, I might have to aim a little to the left of my target to account for that wind. If the wind is blowing straight at me, I might have to take an extra club. So all this pre-shot routine, there's a lot going on in the game of golf. You don't just walk up to the ball and club it. I wish it was that easy. But you have to have a lot of knowledge of what you need to accomplish here. So noting your target, that's just the beginning of it because there's a lot of variables that can effect, you may not just be able to hit the ball straight at the target. There's a lot of variables that will effect it, and you have to take them into account."
