"Now is the time to decide where you want to put your applique. If you have already chose a background piece of material such as I have done you can just have that out and ready. If you have something you have already made or a blanket that is special to you that you want to put, there are lots of different ways you can place your applique. Like here is one on our skirt, just kind of centered in the middle. A lot of times I'll do just a small one on the side or you can put them on a purse you have put together, which is another one of the videos we are going to do today. Or a lot of times I like stuff a little off centered, I think it makes it a little more fun to put it off. If you are putting it on a blanket this one I actually used the applique method to put on a picture that I had painted, this is actually for my cousin's baby so one of my cousins but you can use applique with letters to go across and place it however it makes sense on there. You want to make sure whatever you are putting it on if you put it crooked that it makes sense with whatever that it kind of balances it out one way or another, maybe put one on one side and one on another. But if you are just beginning it is better to just start on a plain block of material that is nice and flat, generally I use something a little heavier. I want to show you how the stitch and tear helps today so I picked something a little lighter but just something that kind of goes with the fabrics you picked out."
