Ecstatic is to happy as crying is to sad. Sometimes looking sad is just not enough, so let's draw somebody crying. You can start off with your eyes normally, but they're going to be closed. So you're going to have your eyelids drawn across the top and basically to show eyes closed, draw a little line above and a little line beneath and now it shows the eyes are closed. Draw our nose in here, slightly puffy because the nose is going to be slightly inflamed because of all the crying. Eyebrows tilted greatly down, almost making like these half tear shapes themselves. Drawing the mouth here, you can see like right here, the big, big, mouth. Some teeth, the tongue's back here but all the way back in the mouth, ultra stretched out. Ears are close to normal. Let's draw, for a change, let's draw our hair going over the other way. We're catching our character's worst side. Side is bunched up some, it's flanked down around the crop here. You notice the face is slightly longer because the mouth is open. You're still going to have your largely similar jawline here. Same with the other side, bring this down around. Now with the mouth you can either leave it open this way, or for crying especially, I like to close it off, and very quickly fill in this mouth space to bring more emphasis to it. Now of course what is crying without tears? You don't think it's obvious how sad your character is, draw in tears, draw in lots of them. I like to show tears literally shooting away from my cartoon expression. So something else you can do, of course is showing some vibration here as if he's racking, his head's moving back and forth as he sobs and he's really, really having and generally had a very, very bad day.
