"So we're going to just talk a little bit about what not to do with kittens as you play with them. One of the important pieces of information for kittens at this age is to not overwhelm them. To let them go on their own, kind of explore on their own, and do what they think they're comfortable with. You can see how that kitten just jumped back a little bit as I brought the stuffy over. He wasn't sure what that was and just wanted to avoid it. Now, as we gently put him there, he's ready to sniff and explore it, check it out, feel it. And as he gets older he'd probably would take this little stuffy and actually pounce on it and treat it like it was prey. And that gives them good exercise, it teaches them about their hunting skills and helps them with their fine motor coordination's so they're able to walk and run and use their limbs properly. So play behavior is very important in kittens and if you overwhelm them and stress them out about it, then they will tend to be more fearful and not as well adjusted to new things."
