"Fleas are a very dangerous parasite for young kittens to have, so in this segment we are going to talk about finding fleas and treating them. One of the easiest ways to look for fleas on a kitten is to use a fine tooth flea comb, the metal ones are very good. They also come in plastic, a plastic version, but the metal ones really hold up well. And what you do is you start at the base of the kittens head and just comb down at a slight angle all the way down to the base of the kitten's tail. And then if there were any fleas, you would see little brown specks on the comb, sort of brick colored specks and you might actually see live fleas hopping around. One of the other places you want to check with a kitten is to turn them on their back with their belly up and comb the belly as well. Sometimes the fleas will hide out on the belly here and around the base of the tail, so you want to look for them carefully there. With a kitten who's severely infested with fleas sometimes you'll see them around the head to."
