"Scratching is a perfectly normal behavior in cats. They scratch for a number of reasons. They scratch to mark their territory they also scratch to care for their nails so that their, any sheaths or any extra nail they can scratch off to keep their nails healthy. So it's very important to supply some kind of a scratching surface for kittens or they will find a scratching surface of their own which you may not agree with. So one of the types of scratching surfaces that you can use is this sizzle scratching surface. It's made of like a rope and it's on a vertical lines so that they can get their claws in and actually dig down and really help to stretch their bodies, their claws and keep themselves healthy as far as taking care of their nails go. This will help them if you have a scratching area, it will help them to not scratch inappropriate areas such as your furniture or your carpets or your doorways."
