"Here we are with Maylee again and I'm going to give to you a demonstration about brushing techniques and talk to you about the trouble spots that some cats have. Usually brushing along the top is easily accomplished. Most cats like having their neck and their head area brushed and you want to get under the chin so sort of lift up the chin a little bit and brush under here in nice long strokes and you can see that Maylee doesn't mind that at all and then as you turn her around you want to go to the sides. Some cats get a little sensitive here and right along the back is a place where cats don't really like to be brushed. One of the things you don't want to do is go opposite the direction of the coat, that gets them a little bit stimulated and sometimes they'll not like that, although as you can see this is a great technique as you can see the fur flying everywhere, to get that dead hair out of Maylee's coat. So the trouble spots for this particular cat are along her hind end and along the sides. This is where cats tend not to like to be brushed very much and then the other trouble spot is the belly. So you kind of have to find a way to get under that belly and you can see how I'm holding her head just gently, keeping control of it so she can't reach down and bite me and then just rubbing under the belly with this soft part of the brush so this soft bristle brush so that we don't hurt her delicate tummy skin."
