"Next system to use, that you're going to use out there, is you're going to buy yourself a center-finding tool. There are a number of different ones on the market. This just happens to be one that I've had for a number of years. The way it works is you've got a number of different nubs that, putting it on the wood, you rest it in to where it's comfortable, to where it fits. Scribe a line. Move it around to the next point, go around all four sides, and then go for marking the center at that point. This is how it would work on a rectangle. When you have a circular item, similar system. Except here, because you don't have four points, you run it around several times, and then go for, in this point where the mass is, for the center. Again, once you get your center point, take your awl, mark it so that you have a place to mount it on the lathe."
