"Once you have roughed out the bowl one of the things that you want to do at this point is make sure that the thickness of your wall is uniform all the way going down. One of the purchase type items you can have is an inside outside type caliper. What you do is bring this down to touching the wall and run it down the side and as you are running it down you look at the back end. If you hit a wide spot what you will see is it will start expanding or contracting, just make sure you are loose enough, just a light touch and then run it down and back and you can see a relatively even thickness. Another way is to get yourself a piece of soft wire that is fairly flexible and do the same, run it along the side and bring it down to the bowl and watching the space as you see when we got down to the center it went off to one side showing that the wall thickness was a little bit thick. Once you find an area that is too thick, get your tool, bring it in, and reshape that one side."
