"What we'll cover at this point is finishing the outside of the bowl. Typically you would like to get a piece of sand paper and fold it into thirds. This gives you a little bit of a padding as you go in. I will be using a 120 grit to start with. As this goes around you will see a number of lines and I'm trying to use the sand paper to take those lines out. What you will also do at this point, once you get the lines basically out is to stop and look around to see if there is any rough portions, I've got a little bit in there, then I'll work at standing those out. Be sure to get a coarse enough piece with the paper. Then with those marks basically out, go back in with a finer grit. As you go through you want to be sure that you eliminate any lines that you have in the work. The lines that you come up with like a lighter line tends to indicate that there is some tear out or some other defect in it that needs to be sanded out."
