"Once the cylinder gets to approximately its full height you want to make sure that the wheel speed is not too fast. The faster wheel speed as the form increases in height or increases in diameter can give you less control over the piece so with that in mind we start at three o'clock position and now it's equal pressure on the inside hand and outside hand and we are just bringing up the walls of that cylinder to make it a little bit taller and extend it to its full height, smoothing out the top of the clay, compressing it a little bit and then we repeat the procedure again starting at the bottom, equal pressure with your fingertips pushing in, going to the middle and going to the top and just imagine the top is still there as you leave the piece slowly."
