"Hi my name is Gary Westby from K&L wine merchants. And I'd here to talk to you about the LeMontone Dorenz sub region of champagne. LeMontone Dorenz is well; mountain is a little bit of a glorified word for it. It's a big hill in a very, very flat region. And it's the area where Pinot Noir is king in champagne. One of the interesting things about it is it has two exposures. One to the south and one to the north. And curiously the northern most part is the part that faces north and is still capable of ripening Pinot Noir which is the most difficult grape to ripen in the region. It doesn't make much sense that it would ripen at the furthest northern point of the region, and facing the wrong way. Away from the sun. And yet it does. It makes some of the most interesting wines of all of champagne in villages like Versant and Mie. To the south villages like Ambonae and Bose are the most famous in the whole area for making the red Pinot Noir that people will later blend in to their champagnes to make Rose's."
