"In this clip I'm going to show you how to add dynamics to a track. Which means adding compression or a gate or EQ or limiting. Those are the four main dynamics that everybody uses. To do so in Pro Tools go to your mixing window, you bring up your plug in view and there's a section for dynamics. I'm going to use the basic Pro Tools compressor limiter, because I know everybody that has Pro Tools they will have this one. Now there's different presets you can start with for say gentle limiting, I usually use a gentle limiting and then change some of the parameters. What this does is it takes the file and it sets it up so that it's never going to go above a certain level. Whatever I set it will never go above that level. Compression is going to take that file and make it squeeze so that you have softest part is close to the loudest part, closer than without compression. Whereas you have a quiet sound and a loud sound."
