"Okay, the next thing you want to do is decide on the size of your blanket. Part of that is going to depend on how much materials you've saved. Also, you want to consider what you're going to use the blanket for if it's going to be on the couch, it's probably not going to be as big. I'm making mine for my bed actually so it would be a full king size blanket. If you're making one for a kid obviously, you want to kind of stick to the size of their bed with a little bit excess to allow them to have room to lay under it. And you want to and once you picked the size, you want to go ahead and pick your batting. You could use actually batting from a store which you want to watch how thick you go because if you go too thick, it's going to be really bulky. I kind of like the thinner battings and it could mix for little bit more of a comfy blanket. You could also use an old blanket you have around the house. This one we have, we've taken camping too many times and it now has holes in it but it would be great filler because it has a nice cushy feel to it and then you want to pick the lining on the back and the lining on the back for a family blanket a lot of times something flannel or something real sturdy is good but you want to make sure it's soft because that's what actually is going to sit against you is the backing on it. I'm making another blanket for a baby right now and for the backing, I found a satin on a great deal and so I'm going to make the back all satin. So, once you have those picked, then you're ready to go to the next step."
