"So the next step in the massage is to palpate or check the horse's top line. And you do that by having again one hand on the horse's halter to keep his head steady. Taking your thumb or your fingers, the pads of your fingers of your other hand and moving down the horse's neck. I prefer to use the thumb, I find that that's a better way to just check and feel any lumps that are there, any bumps any knots that I'm going to want to work on later. Move down the horse's neck, keeping your other hand steady on the horse. And you are applying a moderate amount of pressure here because you haven't done anything really to loosen the horse up so you don't want to be applying too much pressure at this point. You are just checking as you go down and notice as I am pressing right here, palpating with a moderate amount of pressure, he's dropping a little bit so that's an area that I'm going to want to remember to work on next time when I come back. And all the way down to the head of his, to his tail head."
