"Periodically, as you're forming the piece it's necessary to take the water out of the piece and remove as much surface water as possible. And, that will prevent future cracking with the piece. So, you need the water to manipulate the clay. But, you cannot leave any standing water in the clay. Working at the three o'clock position, again wetting the edge, the top edge and wetting the bottom where it touches the bat. You'll begin pulling the form out. And, what we're doing is just right hand pushing in and you can see that wedge of clay kind of lifting up. Wetting it again and right hand and left hand working together. Fingertips working together. And, what we're doing is extending that curve outward by pulling along that curve line. Get to the end of the piece, we let go slowly. Left hand, fingers grip the piece. Stabilize it. Right hand, sponge compresses that edge strengthening it. Removing excess water."
