"Alright, next let's talk about setting the pike up. You've got your bullet sinker, bullet weight at the end of a nylon braided line. You've got only about six feet of either monofilament line or heavy nylon braided line. Then you want to have about a foot to a foot and a half of the steel leader. For this you're going to use the same type of bait. You're going to use a shiner, through the back, just in front of the dorsal fin. Now the difference with a pike is you're going to be fishing in shallow water. You're going to be fishing in water with a lot of vegetation in it. And it's going to be just under the ice in about three or four feet under the ice in about six to eight feet of water. The pike like to cruise around through that vegetation looking for crippled minnows, small bait fish and perch. They will hit them and hit them hard. So fish that about three to four feet under the ice."
