"This is an inline auger, this particular one is a four inch inline auger, meaning it drills a four inch hole into the ice. Notice that the stem comes up, vertically from the bottom, from the blade through the fins, and directly up in line with the very top handle, on which you would place one hand. The right hand, or if you were left handed, the left hand goes on the outside, and as the auger spins, notice that the top hand is remaining still. That's remaining still, providing force downward to create friction into the ice and to cut into the ice more rapidly. An inline auger is ideal for drilling a couple of holes quickly, but when you're doing a lot of holes, you might want to think about an offset auger. Now this inline auger, as I said, is a four inch auger and is ideal for perch, pan fish, bluegill and crappy."
