"What I have here is an offset auger. An offset auger has a stem, a main stem that runs all the way down through the blades and you'll notice that the main stem comes up. An offset of the center to the right and the left are handles, the handles are used in a manner where you are actually spinning outside of the central piece of the auger. Notice it's both arms are moving at the same time as opposed to an in-line where the stem is coming straight up and your drilling straight down keeping one hand, your top hand still. On an offset auger there are certain applications for it that make it much more efficient and speedy for drilling a lot of holes quickly as in running a trap line for salmon or running perch lines. An offset auger can be very quick."
