Okay, I want to revisit the way that the letters fit within the space of the guidelines. So here I've drawn four guidelines. The first guideline is for the ascenders. The second guideline is the head of the x height. The third guideline is the baseline and this one is the most important. And the fourth one, which I consider optional, is the descender line. So to show you how the letters fit into that space, I'll put a lower case. Oop, this is what happens when you talk too much and you don't write. So there's the lower case e, it fits right into the x space. Here's the lower case l, it's resting on the baseline. Here's a p, that's going to go down into the descenders space. So the letters fit into the space. They all hit one of these guidelines. So, if you only have one guideline, I would do a baseline. The second one would be x height and the third would be the ascender.
