"We have got our log cut in half as close to the pith as possible and I've also cut a flat section right here so that it makes it easier to balance the piece on the band saw table when I'm cutting my circle. So now I want to find my circle using the compass and for that I'm going to put one end of the compass right in the center of the blank and I'm going to find where my circle would be and once I have it using the compass I'll scribe with this carbide tipped scribe and then when I've got the carbide scribe, I'll just use a small marker to highlight that so that I make it easier to find my circle when I'm cutting it on the band saw."
