"Here's another way that you can use to finish the bottom of your bowl. Remember earlier we used a jam chuck by using something spongy and this was the black, a piece of the black shop mat, and I stuck that in the bottom of the bowl and using the four drop chuck, I just reversed it and then used my tail stock, locking it in and advancing the quill to center the bowl. This is a good way to finish the bottom if you don't have coal jaws or you have limited accessories for your lathe. To make sure that the bowl is centered, you could use your tool rest as a reference while you're spinning the bowl by hand to see if there's any undulating surface."
