"In this clip I'm going to talk to you about some of the tools that you're going to use to sand your bowl. Obviously, you have to have sandpaper. Whenever I'm sanding a bowl, I start with eighty grit and my eighty grit is right here. And it proceeds right on up through one-twenty, one-fifty, one-eighty, two-twenty, three-twenty, four hundred and six hundred. When you're sanding, don't skip a grit. To use the sand bit, sand disc, I'm going to use a power, corded drill. Both two inch and three inch arbors. I will sometimes use random orbital sanders that are powered by an air compressor as well. Now if you're going to use a random orbital sander, you need to make sure the compressor you use has enough power to keep the tool running. If you've got a pancake compressor, it's probably not going to be sufficient to keep, to power those air tools. Of course, you need some kind of dust mask or dust filter, a way to collect the dust at the lathe as it's being generated, and here I have my hose attachment right up next to the piece as we're going to be working, and an air filter right above the lathe hanging from the ceiling to catch the dust in the air that we can't see."
