"OK. Chipping; when to chip, maybe when to putt. So, we're faced right here; I'm right off the green, I'm probably about twenty feet from the hole. So, do I chip or do I putt from here? The pros of chipping are if there's any imperfections in the green I'm going to be able to loft the ball and kind of sail it in the air over all that and also this grass right here, since it's hard to read grass all the time the thicker it gets it's easier if I chip over it. So, that might be one thought, so maybe I'll just try that. OK. So, that's my chip. But, the downside to chipping is, let's say, I don't execute the chip real well. So, let's say I skull it, so all of a sudden I'm left with a very long a; long putt. So, so, the idea here is that sometimes in this position putting is a good option, but not always the best. That's why practicing a lot you'll start knowing when to do it and when not to do it. So, I might want to putt here, because really what we're doing here is we're trying to figure out a way to get the ball as close to the hole so we can get our good score. So, you're not expecting to make this shot from here. It's good if you do, but your real goal is to get it close so you can then make the next shot which will be a putt. So, chipping is generally your best option once you're a few feet off the fringe of the green."
