Oil Painting: Tracing Paper

We're continuing tracing, I'm working on the eye right now, the cornea, the pupil, the eyebrow. It really doesn't matter what order you trace it in, just as long as you get everything in there. And different tracing papers, that is the tracing sheet behind it, require different amounts of pressure, and you generally need to test it out by checking it out to make sure it's drawn there. You don't want dark wide lines, so you generally want like a .5 millimeter mechanical pencil that never needs to be sharpened, otherwise by the end of your tracing, you'll have much wider lines than the beginning, so they're not consistent. And the thing is is if you use an acrylic or oil, those lines will mix in with the paint, they sort of dissolve with the solvent, and when they do, they produce a grayish tone.
