"Another thing that you might try in your classroom, depending on the nature of your subject, is give assignments that students could possibly link to other assignments, in other courses. Maybe you're teaching a public speaking course, and the students have an informative speech. Perhaps they're also taking an english literature course, or a history course, or a science course. Encourage them to write their speech about something that they're studying in another course, or maybe they have to write a report for history, about Abraham Lincoln. Perhaps they want to do their informative speech on Abraham Lincoln as well, so that they can take that report, that they're going to have to do all the research and work on, and then just simply turn it into a speech. Sometimes, if students have the opportunity to get two assignments out of one, it is very beneficial to them as students, but it also encourages and ensures that the work is going to get done, and possibly a better quality of work."
