"So, what a Chiropractor does to treat your spine is called an adjustment. Basically, that is moving the spinal vertebrae and getting it unstuck and getting it back towards it's normal positioning. Sometimes, you can use it with your hands. Sometimes, you can use an instrument like this called an activator. For some people, an adjustment by hand is either too painful or their spine is too delicate to take an adjustment by hand or they're afraid of getting a manual adjustment or they do not want to hear any type of popping sound when they get an adjustment. So, they prefer to get one of these activator adjustments. The adjustment is pretty simple and this instrument is pretty simple. All you do is squeeze the handle and the head thrusts forward. You put this head on the part of the vertebrae that is misaligned and basically push it back into place. For example, if we felt that this spinal bone was rotated out of alignment what we would do is we would place the activator on the bone and aim it in the direction that we want to correct the vertebrates misalignment and then push it back into place."
