"Choosing your skateboard's bearings. The bearings are very important, because the bearings support all of the movement that you're going to be doing on your board, and they hold all of the weight on the axle, and turn. So, you're going to want to pick a quality skateboard bearing that has, usually, seven ball bearings in it, but sometimes they have as few as six. Now, every brand of bearings varies, so you're going to have to make sure you look for a good brand. Usually Bone Swiss are known as the best skateboard bearings, and they last the longest. Sometimes you may save a little bit of money, but you might notice that your bearings will break a little bit quicker. So, it might be better off spending a little extra money on some good bearings, because, when it comes to bearings, they can last a long time, and they are the part of your set-up that will be changed the least if they're good. So, the set that I have now, sometimes they come with a shield around the outside. Now, some people choose to pop the shield off on the bearing. Now, this sometimes makes it so you can get a louder roll out of the bearing, and it gives it the hollow kind of feeling to it. Now, this all depends on your own style, and whether you like the feeling of the loud rolling. And it also matters about the quality of the bearing, because if you have cheap bearings, and you take the shield off, they won't last very long. But this is just one way that people put their bearings together. Now, you want to make sure that you pick out the best kind of bearings, so that they last the longest, and you want to make sure that you usually ride the same age bearings while you're skating, because if you have one old bearing and one new bearing, the old bearing is probably going to go out. So, it's better to buy them in a set all at once. And this is how you pick out your skateboard bearings."
