GPS vs. Maps

"O.k, I've been selling these. I've owned GPS's and I've had a retail store and been selling them for years. And, I've had people say I don't need them, it's silly, I can read a map, can't you read a map? I know all about these mapping programs on the computer, their wonderful, o.k. from point A to point B. However, slash, comma, there's several things that make the GPS much superior to a map. A map is very annoying for one when somebody's trying to unfold it and put it in front of you in the front seat, interfering with your visibility. Nobody wants to hear it and the map you can't really look at that going down the road; you better not, it's not safe obviously. So, if you don't have a co-pilot with you, you're stopping to look at a map safely. This is another instrument, just like looking at your instrument cluster of your vehicle. So, it tells you, this particular model will not only show you and give you a chime when it's time to turn, but it will tell you to turn left, to turn right, it will speak to you. And, again we'll demonstrate that in a little bit. But, anyways, these mapping programs on your computer are great. Say that, I'm in Ann Arbor, Michigan and I'm going to Ferndale, Michigan and there's an address, and that's fine, it will show me how to get there. But, what if on the way there I start getting low on gas or I take a notion to get something to eat, I want to do a side track or somebody said hey, check this out, you get off the beaten path or if I do make it to my destination in Ferndale and from there a buddy called and said hey, why don't you come on over here and meet me. But, maybe I don't know, I didn't know how to get to where I was in Ferndale. Maybe I don't know how to get to him. The maps already printed, it's not going to do me any good unless it's in the exact proximity, if it's off my map that I've printed, it does me no good. So, again alls I have to do is punch in where I want to go, on this, and it's going to take me, this maps the whole United States, it's all there. It's not about one state or having multiple maps. Every address, every business, residential or business, every address there is in the United States is on this ready to go. So, you can punch it in. If I want to travel to California, I can put in that address, punch it in and I know approximately when I'm going to be there and there's no map involved. It's just sit back and enjoy the ride."
