"So this painting aside from Friedrich von Amerling, Marie Vesque von Puettlingen. And so we can see how he painted the friends of himself because Puettlingen was a composer in Vienna, but he work, he earn money as a lawyer. And so he painted not only his wife, but as well the children of him. And it's really important to talk about that children and dogs and other, today, as well very popular topics, were painted in Biedermeier as well. And so, what we should call as cute chic today sometimes, it comes from Biedermeier also. That children and dogs and other nice and fluffy and clumsy things are part of everyday life. But what we can see about this portrait is the already mentioned characteristic of Biedermeier, that the detailed face of the woman and the soft surface and shadows what was used by the painter by Amerling. And it's really important that the English portrait painting has a big influence on the Biedermeier portrait painting because the English portrait painting already began on the end of the 18th century like Joshua Reynolds or Thomas Lawrence. And so, but, the style of the Biedermeier portrait is very different from the English, English ones."
