"Hi. I'm chef Jordan and I'm going to show you a few different easy and delicious appetizers using cheese as your main ingredient. In this clip I'm going to show you how to make cheese puffs or gougeres in French. Which is a delicious warm cheesy bite that everybody loves. The utensils you'll need to make this dish is a cheese grater, a metal whisk, a kitchen knife, a cutting board and a vegetable peeler. The ingredients in this dish are fairly simple. I use cheese, cheddar cheese, a sharp kind is best. Gruyere cheese, which is a very pungent cheese similar to Parmesan. Two eggs, flour and butter. Now to start I'm going to grate my two cheeses. You want to make sure to cut off the outside rind. Now I'm just going to grate both these cheeses using the wider grating option on my grater. It takes a little muscle but it's worth every ounce. And grate my cheddar same way same size. Alright. I've got both my cheeses in the bowl. And set that aside to use for later. While I'm starting to prepare the ingredients for this dish it's a good time now to preheat your oven to about 375 degrees convection or 400 degrees conventional oven. Now I'm going to crack my two eggs into a bowl. There's one and my second egg. Now put that aside. Other ingredients I need for this recipe is a half a cup of flour. Half a cup of water and 3 tablespoons of butter. Looking for the guide measure. 3 tablespoons. Great. Cut right on the line. So now I'm ready to put my dish together. First I'm going to need a sauce pot like this and my whisk. I'm going to get my butter in this pot with a half a cup of water and bring that up to a boil. Just going to mix this around until the butter's melted. It's got to get a little hotter to come up to a boil. Now that it's up to a boil I'm going to add a half a teaspoon of salt and while whisking slowly add in my flour. Just shake it in a little bit at a time. Stirring constantly. And you know it's ready once the dough pulls away from the sides of the container. So I'm just going to put my one egg and mix that until it's thoroughly combined. Now time to add my other egg. Really mix that up until it's one dough. Now that my dough is together I'm ready to add my cheese. Now simply just pour all the cheese in there and mix to combined. I'm going to use a little non stick spray on this baking sheet just to make sure these gougeres don't stick. Just a little bit over the whole surface will do. Perfect. Now to put the dough onto this pan I'm going to be using two of the same sized spoons. Now what you want to do is take about a half a spoonful of dough. Then use the other spoon to scoop it right off. Just like that. About the size of a big Hershey's kiss. And you just want to keep repeating these steps until you've filled your tray. And one more will do. Now that I have all of my dough onto my cookie sheet we're going to put just a little bit of egg wash on the pan to give it some shine. And you just want a little bit on top. Not too much or you'll have scrambled eggs. Just a couple more. Now into the oven at 375 degrees convection for about 15 minutes until they're golden brown and nice and puffy. Now into the oven. I'll see you guys in about 15 minutes. These smell cheesy and delicious. Look how much they really puffed up. Salty, cheesy, crunchy and still soft in the middle. That's what I call a cheese puff. And that's how you make a cheese puff or gougere in French. Enjoy."
