"So we also need to make our knob and we have got our handful of clay rolled into a ball. You want to center it on the wheel. It does not take long for a little tiny piece like this. Then you want to take your right hand and push inwards while you are compressing down from the top with your left hand and this makes the pedestal of the knob. Leave some clay at the bottom for the base and this is what you will actually connect to the lid and now we are going to take our left hand and we are going to pinch as we compress with our right hand and we are going to pull out towards the outside of the wheel with that pinched left hand to make a nice broad flat knob. But this isn't all because this is supposed to hold a rope so we need to form this into a shape that makes a tube. So lay it out flat and then you will just take your fingers, pull it up on the sides and bring it together. Then you want to push it into itself. You don't have to score and split because this clay is the same wetness as itself, that is mostly when you are trying to connect two different items of different dryness. So now we have a knob that has a tube that goes all the way through it and we can put our rope through there to hang our birdhouse on the end."
